Chinese automaker Nio produced the 800,000th vehicle in China 7 years and 2 months after its first EV rolled off the production line. The Onvo L90 full-size SUV became the anniversary vehicle. It is set to launch on July 31 to become one of the company’s sales drivers in China.
Nio kicked off the production of its first model (ES8) on May 27, 2018, at the facility of the state-owned JAC automaker. It took the young Chinese startup 2 years and 10 months to reach the 100,000th assembled vehicle milestone. This goal was accomplished on April 7, 2021. The Nio’s average production volume during the mentioned period was around 96 vehicles per day.
On April 26, 2022, Nio announced the production of the 200,000th vehicle in China. Its average daily production volume rose by 170.8% to 260 units daily. In September 2022, the second Nio-JAC plant in Hefei began operation in China. As a result, the production volume continued to grow. The automaker announced that its 300,000th car rolled off the production line on December 12, 2022. Its daily production volume reached 435 units.
